Carmel is a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist. She has a Bachelor of Behavioural Sciences with Honours degree and a Master of Psychology (Clinical).

Carmel is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and a full member of the Australian Clinical Psychological Association (ACPA). She is committed to delivering the best quality evidence-based treatment

Carmel has over 25 years’ experience working within many different areas of psychology, including Mental Health Inpatient and Outpatient Services, Community Health and Private Practice.

Carmel is a warm and committed therapist and enjoys working collaboratively with her clients; helping them achieve their goals and improve their lives. 

Carmel’s practice includes different therapeutic approaches, with her main orientation being Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This can involve understanding how your thoughts and beliefs can influence your emotions and behaviour. Sessions may also involve exploring the effect of the past on the current problem, self-perception and learning how to manage difficult emotions. 

Carmel has a particular interest in anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma and adjustment disorders, as well as grief and loss.

As well as providing psychological treatment to her clients, in past positions Carmel has managed large multi-disciplinary teams and been involved in regional health service development projects. She currently provides clinical advice to the Department of Veteran Affairs and supervision to other Clinical Psychologists. 

Carmel is registered as a provider with the following: 

  • Medicare 

  • Worksafe

  • Transport Accident Commission (TAC)

  • Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)

  • Private Health Insurance Companies 

If you in receipt of self-managed NDIS funding, Carmel may be able to provide psychological services to you.

Medicare: If you are referred by your GP under Medicare arrangements, you will need your GP to provide a written referral and a copy of your Mental Health Care Plan. You will then be able to claim back at least $126.50 per session from Medicare for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Out of pocket costs are usually $68.50; less if you have a health care card.

DVA, Worksafe, TAC and NDIS: If referred under one of these organisations, there is no out of pocket fee.

Private Health Insurance: Please check with your Health Insurance provider – rebates under Extras cover depends on your policy
